My father and I agree that no person who wants the office of The Presidency should never be allowed to have it. The only fit president, as we have agreed for years, is the one that must be dragged kicking and screaming into office.
Personally, I think it goes a step further. I think that the root problem is demoncracy. Democracy's shortcomings can reasonably be explained as follows:
A group of 5 people living together in house; a mother, who is a paranoid neurotic, a father who is a cocaine addict and alcoholic, an eldest child who is overly intelligent and lacks any grasp of social mores, a middle child who is a racist militant, and a youngest child who is a spoiled brat with no concept of how the rest of society lives.
In a democracy, each of these people gets an equal vote - if you can't see the nightmare in that scenario, then there is no hope for you, just go back to sleep and pretend that everything is OK.
What is significantly worse is that our "democratic" republic is that the "father" colludes with the "mother" and is influeced by her paranoia to interfere and attempt to wrest power from the remains of the "family". This leads to critically bad situations where there is an ongoing internal power struggle, an external air of constant fear, and a general distrust of every member for the other.
By goodness, if that doesn't sound like the country we live in, and the idiots (both voting and being voted on) we have elected, then you just haven't been paying attention.
